Tiverton Museum – “A gem of a Museum” – has one of the best collections of social history in the South West. Recently voted 8th among the best small museums in the country by the ‘Independant’ newspaper, it is a museum for all the family to enjoy with fifteen galleries showing many aspects of the social, agricultural, domestic and industrial life of the area. Most galleries are accessible for wheelchair visitors. It is the home of the “Tivvy Bumper” locomotive 1442 which pulled the last train to Tiverton station in 1965.

It houses a research library linked with the Devon County records office and an extensive photographic archive. The Museum shop provides a wide range of gifts for adults and children.

22nd-27th July 2003 * 750th Anniverary * Ancient West country Fair held annually since 1253 when King Henry III granted a royal charter.

This is a hobby, which got out of hand and explains why it is located in the owners home hamlet of Cobbaton. A schoolboys box of treasures has grown to over 50 World War II military vehicles, including tanks and artillery plus thousands of smaller items both military and civilian.

Bernard Doe and Penelope Cowell Doe took over the vineyard in December 2001 and are working hard to ensure that the site realises its full potential. Two still table wines are made by judiciously blending the grape varieties: a fragrant dry and a flowery medium dry. Both make fine aperitifs and will complement fish, poultry and lightly seasoned vegetable and salad dishes. They are ideal for lunchtime drinking ! An award and accolade winning sparkling wine is also available. The winery is almost always open, but since we may be working in the vineyard or out making deliveries please telephone for information, visits and wine sales.

The West Country is priveliged to have one of only seven remaining traditional Horse-drawn Barges left in England today. It provides a peaceful and nostalgic journey into yesteryear as it wends it’s way gently through Devon Heartlands rolling countryside, to the rythmic clip-clop of a Shire horses hooves.

The canal is a peaceful tranquil place, its banks and towpath rich with wildlife.

Trips operate: March to December for groups, and Easter to October for public trips, operating to an advertised timetable, seat reservations advised. Barge covered (heated in winter), Daytime and Floodlit evening trips, Commentary, Menu, Bar, Snacks, Gifts, Toilets, Gift Shop, Boat Hire, Walks and Picnics.
